However, street lights have advantages that facilitate natural convection heat dissipation, such as outdoor nighttime use, the heat dissipation surface being located on the side and top, and a relatively small size restriction. Therefore, it is recommended to choose natural convection heat dissipation for LED street lights whenever possible.
The problems in the heat dissipation design of LED street lights include: arbitrary setting of the heat sink area, unreasonable arrangement of the heat sinks, failure to consider the usage method of the fixtures in the arrangement of the heat sinks, which affects the effectiveness of the fins, emphasizing thermal conduction while neglecting convective heat dissipation. Although many manufacturers have considered various measures such as heat pipes, loop heat pipes, and thermal conductive silicone grease, they have not realized that the heat must ultimately be dissipated through the surface area of the fixture. They overlook the balance of heat transfer; if the temperature distribution of the fins is severely uneven, some fins may not function or have very limited effectiveness.

The purpose is to solve the heat dissipation problem of high-power LED fixtures by proposing an air convection cooling type high-power LED street light fixture. It includes a lamp head assembly, a lamp body heat dissipation assembly, and a lamp tail assembly. The lamp body heat dissipation assembly is an arc cylindrical shell with openings at both ends. The two sides of the arc cylindrical surface are vertical surfaces with an array of through holes. Inside the arc cylindrical shell cavity, there are 4 to 10 axially arranged thermal conductive plates fixedly connected to both the arc surface and cylindrical surface. The vertical thermal conductive plates and both sides of the arc cylindrical shell also have an array of through holes, forming 5 to 11 thermal air flow channels for heat dissipation within the lamp body heat dissipation assembly. The advantage of this utility model is that there are multiple thermal air flow channels in the cavity of the heat sink, and the vertical thermal conductive plates also serve as cooling surfaces, increasing the area for thermal exchange and improving thermal discharge efficiency.
