1. Vertical pole type
Column-type signal poles are commonly used to install auxiliary signal lights and pedestrian signal lights. Auxiliary signal lights are usually installed on both sides of the parking lane; column-type pedestrian signal poles are installed at both ends of the crosswalk, and upright signal lights can also be installed at T-junctions.
2. Cantilever type
Cantilever signal poles consist of a vertical pole and a horizontal arm. Common pole types include octagonal pyramid L-pole, conical L-pole, equal-diameter round tube L-pole, equal-diameter round tube F-pole, combination frame pole, one-to-one bent arm pole, retro-style beautification pole, etc. With the development of cities and wider roads, the use of cantilever signal poles is increasing to meet the requirements for signal light installation positions. If the intersection is large, an additional set of signals can be added on the right side of the opposite sidewalk. If there is a central separation zone, an additional set of signals can be added on the left side of the central separation zone close to the stop line. If the road is narrow, a comprehensive signal pole can be installed on the sidewalk near the edge line intersection point opposite; when installing a signal pole on the sidewalk, it must not occupy the blind path.
2. Roads with non-motor vehicle lanes: At intersections with separated motor vehicle lanes and non-motor vehicle lanes, if the width of the separation zone allows, opposing signal poles should be installed within 2 meters from the edge point on the right non-motor vehicle lane. If the intersection is large, an additional set of signals can be added on the left side of the opposite separation zone. If the road is narrow, a comprehensive signal pole can be installed within 2 meters from the edge point on the right separation zone; when the width of the separation zone is small, it should be set according to mixed road methods.
